Lydie and Melvil, “ethical hackers”, are recruited by the DCSI (General Directorate for Internal Security) to combat an operation launched by cyber-criminals, which threatens the European Union.  They work in Hackerworld, a tightly closed virtual universe which is accessible to very few: only the most skilled hackers on the planet can access it.  In Hackerworld every space has a digital-futuristic style, and at the same time consists of vast forests, meadows and expanses of water, mountains, islands, deserts, so many places to wander.  Digital caves allow various groups to meet in total secrecy.  Poised between real and virtual environments, legality and legitimacy, duty and feelings, love and betrayal, the boundaries are porous and shifting.  The young people clash head-on with the plotters, and each group is convinced that they are on the side of good, with Lydie and Melvil seeing themselves as engaged in a struggle against an illegal, cyber-criminal operation, and the others believing they are serving a humanist ideal.  In this virtual, ideological battle it is not always easy to choose which side to be on.
